Should not Teachers, Nurses and the Police be awarded pay incease equal/greater than the rate of inflation?

Public Sector workers should be at the forefront of government fiscal policy. If savings are to be made the first place to look is at non essential expenditure: Benefits (charity). Rather than cutting the wages of productive citizens, it would appear more prudent/expedient to award them wage increases commensurate to their place in society. If savings for the greater good must be made let us begin by reducing payments to that segment of society not contributing to the greater good of the nation. Housing benefit, unemployment benefit, and disability benefits are not in all actuality benefits but charity! This charity is at present perpetuating the growth of the undercl at the cost of those of us that are contributing to the growth and economic prosperity of the nation. Child Benefit should also be cut as it too is a form of charity derived from "the workers" through taxation. Unfortunately, no government will now be able to enact such proposals for the undercl would revolt
